ROH Glory By Honor XI: The Unbreakable Hope

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada 10/13/12

1.) Caged Hostility Rematch – The Bravados vs. Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander: ***1/2

Not as good as their match in Charlotte, but this was still fairly good. A perfect opener for an iPPV.

2.) Mike Mondo vs. "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett: ***1/4

It should be noted that Mondo suffered his ankle injury in this match, which would keep him out for a few months. The dive off the entrance way, while cool, didn't help his leg much. Still, this was surprisingly fun. Really enjoyed this one.

3.) Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team vs. Rhett Titus & BJ Whitmer: **1/2

So basically, BJ Whitmer took Kenny King's spot in the battle between Rhett Titus and WGTT. This was a good little match. Nothing really good, but ok. There was a fun little spot where Whitmer & Haas traded punches saying "F-U, I'm Charlie Haas/BJ Whitmer!" back & forth, but otherwise a decent match.

Footage from the incident at Killer Instinct is shown where Jay Lethal went crazy after Kevin Steen spit on his parents. Lethal cuts a promo before the match, telling Kevin Steen, the disposed Jim Cornette, and ROH to kiss his ass.

4.) Jay Lethal vs. Davey Richards: ****1/4

These two have had quite a history of matches in 2012. They battled twice for the World Title (once in Philly, once in Baltimore) and were the final two in the 2012 Survival of the Fittest Tournament. This was awesome, probably one of the year's best matches. It started a tad slow, but it picked up & ended up being great. Lethal picks up the win here.

Roderick Strong was supposed to face Tadarius Thomas, but comes out in street clothes. He insults Thomas and quits the HOT (finally). Truth Martini is distraught, but brings out his hired mercenary Rhino to face Thomas, and Rhino was really questioning it, as although he had his gear on, he didn't look happy that Martini was making him wrestle.

5.) Rhino vs. Tadarius Thomas: DUD

It was a little match, but really more of an elongated segment/match that set up the post-match stuff.

Afterwords, Rhino's had enough of Truth Martini, and throws him over the top rope and onto the guardrail!!! Martini has his pants sliced and a huge bruise/gash on his leg....nasty!

6.) ROH World TV Title – Adam Cole vs. Eddie Edwards: ****

Cole & Edwards developed a relationship throughout 2012, and now Edwards is getting a shot at Cole's TV Title. This was another awesome match. Lots of good technical wrestling. Very solid action.

7.) ROH World Tag Team Titles – S.C.U.M. (Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs) vs. The Briscoes: ***1/2

These two had a match at Boiling Point 2012, which The Briscoes won, but this time S.C.U.M. are the World Tag Team Champions and the belts are on the line. I do think this was better than that first match. Although it was a rather basic World Tag Team Title Match, it was fairly solid.

8.) ROH World Title – Kevin Steen vs. "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin: ****3/4

This is Michael Elgin finally cashing in the title shot he earned when he won the 2011 Survival of the Fittest Tournament. By god.....this match ROCKED!!! It was on the same level as the Davey/Elgin match, but I'd say that match was just a tiny bit better. These two put on an amazing match, and both proved why they're incredible professional wrestlers. It's soooo close to the Davey/Elgin match it's not even funny. It took a Package Piledriver from the top rope to finish off Elgin. The only minus I'd say was that Roderick Strong was at ringside to watch Elgin lose, before getting tossed by Elgin, which I guess kinda took away from it a tad.

Afterwords, Strong comes running out and takes out Elgin with a sick kick. Steen is still in the ring when Nigel gets a box delivered to him at ringside. Nigel gets in the ring and says he was instructed to give it to Steen in the event he won. Steen takes the box, and opens it to find an EL GENERICO MASK inside!!! That gets a big pop from the Canadian Crowd and OLE! chants to close the show.

Overall: 9.5/10

This was definitely by far the show of the year for Ring of Honor. After all the iPPV woes, the Jim Cornette Era, and all the other issues they have been having in 2012, Ring of Honor finally did something right and that got the fans talking. A lot of the matches on here were good to great to awesome, with three matches breaking the **** mark. Just an awesome night of wrestling from Ring of Honor, and the start of better things to come...
